2010 has definitely been the year of the collaboration as we’ve seen more collaborations between new and old sneaker companies than ever before. For some sneaker companies though the collaboration is definitely nothing new as they have been doing this for a very long time. One of those sneaker companies would definitely be Vans as they almost be considered one of the pioneers of the collaboration. They have always had good taste in companies to collaborate with on their already great sneakers and today we are going to look at the shoe that is only going to further that point. This is the new WTAPS x Vans Syndicate Sk8 Mid.

There’ll be two different colorways releasing as a part of this pack one will come with a dark blue upper and the other one will come with a black upper. Both shoes will feature a spiderweb pattern on the upper which will do a lot to give this one a somewhat unique feel.

In order to pay tribute to the late Andy Kessler, who passed on last Fall, Vans Syndicate has designed these two new shoes for this Spring, called the Old Skool “S” and the Sk8 Hi “S”. Both of these shoes were chosen to feature the Outlast material for maximum protection and ventilation. We have a good feeling that if there was a way to ask Andy Kessler his opinion on these shoes that he would be very pleased with the outcome of them both.

Both shoes will feature premium black leather on the toe and midfoot while black suede is used just about everywhere else. Perforated panels are also featured throughout the rest of the upper including on the tongue and near the ankles. Bright blue laces give this shoe a nice touch of color as well. On the heel, the “AK” logo patch is sewn on. Expect these in stores soon.

We have just received this leaked image of a new collaboration between Vans and the world famous seat company Brooks Saddles. This collaboration will use the Vans Syndicate as it’s canvas and will feature ultra premium materials just like you would expect from a prestigious company like Brooks Saddles. While Vans is a skateboard shoe company first and foremost, we can’t really recommend that anyone actually use these shoes for skateboarding, as it would be a real shame to see shoes made from such high quality materials get scuffed up. The shoes will feature elegant brace lace eyelets and special laces that look to be made of some sort of premium leather. At the time of this writing details on an official release date and retail price have yet to be announced but we will make sure to keep you informed and up to date as soon as information becomes available.

Vans teamed up with Japanese label, WTAPS for another set of sneakers which will be part of the Summer 2009 Collection. Among these are the Rudeez in a Blue/White colorway, the Greaserz in Brown/Beige, and the Bash in Brown/Black.
