“World’s Most Valuable Sports Brand”

Nike, Inc. is the world”™s leading supplier of athletic shoes and innovative clothing that revolutionized the sportswear industry. Valued at 15.9 billion based on the brand alone, Nike is considered “the most valuable brand” among sports businesses, according to Forbes. It boasts brand recognition, high-profile endorsers, and easily recognized trademarks like the Swoosh logo and the “Just Do It” slogan.

With the mission to “bring inspiration and innovation to every athlete in the world,” Nike strives to develop and produce superior athletic products that have become the benchmark for quality sports equipment.

Brief History

Founded on January 1964, Nike was pioneered by Bill Bowerman and Phil Knight, two visionaries who redefined the shoe game. Formerly known as Blue Ribbon Sports, the Oregon-based company was named after Nike, the Greek goddess of victory. It initially operated as a distributor for Japanese shoe maker Onitsuka Tiger, but later ventured into designing and manufacturing its own line of footwear in 1971.

Bowerman and Knight chose the brand mark now globally recognized as the Swoosh, which was designed by a Portland State University student named Carolyn Davidson. The new Nike line debuted in 1972, in time for the U.S. Track & Field Trials””and the rest as they say is history.

The Swoosh Culture

“If you have a body, you”™re an athlete.”””It is the principle upon which Nike was founded, eminently embodied in its products. Redefining the sports apparel, the sportswear giant commits itself to making the highest-quality sports equipment possible by utilizing the best technology available.

Until today, the Swoosh and the brand behind it push boundaries and cross cultures. From basketball to skateboarding, name the sport, Nike has it: Nike Skateboarding, Nike Golf, Nike Pro, Nike+, and Air Jordan among others.

Aside from footwear, Nike also offers comfortable and lifestyle sports equipment such as hoodies, bomber jackets, running tights, and training pants catered to both men and women, young and old.

The consistent delivery of brand DNA and core commitment to innovation have become the cornerstone for Nike.
