Nike Black History Month Collection x Serena WIlliams

The history of the African diaspora is being celebrated outside Africa annually to commemorate the event introduced by historian Carter Woodson with his goal to educate the American people about African-American history, its cultural backgrounds and reputable achievements.

2012 marks another year for the African-American culture to be better known to the general public. With the annual association of Nike to the said event, one more exclusive collection was formed to promote both history and sports. Tennis superstar, Serena Williams is this year’s pick for the Nike Black History Month Collection, as she perfectly resembles the real outstanding African-American figure in the world of sports. The Nike Black History Month Collection x Serena Williams features her signature shoe, of course, which is the Nike Air Max Mirabella 3, a C72 bag, a Nike Sportswear Destroyer Jacket, and a Season Knit Jacket. Each piece goes with Nike’s 2012 Black History Month graphic that is inspired by the achievements of three historic teams – the 1991 USA Women’s Basketball team, the 2002 Brazil Men’s Soccer team, and the 2008 Kenyan Long-Distance running team.

Black is totally dominating the collection as colorful accent with printed ethnic designs give life to Serena’s dark collectibles.
