LEDs were commonly used as replacements for incandescent and neon indicator lamps, then later integrated in appliances such as TVs, radios, telephones, calculators, and even watches. The red LEDs were bright enough only for use as indicators, as the light output was not enough to illuminate an area. As technology advances, LED manufacturers came up with increased light output with the same standard efficiency and reliability. Today, not only appliances and gadgets are entitled to use light-emitting diodes but even the fashion industry.
One good example of LED product found in the fashion arena is the most anticipated pair of LED Sneakers by American brand, Creative Recreation. These illuminating kicks were designed by Moritz Waldemeyer, a German fashion designer known with his innovative style who has done collaborations with many of the world”™s top architects and fashion designers including Ron Arad, Zaha Hadid and Hussein Chalayan. His work is a fusion of technology, art, fashion and design.
The Creative Recreation LED shoe wears series of LED circuits on selected panels such as toe box, forefoot strap, collar, and heel while the remainder uses black premium leather. The lace loops used are made of bronze metal with black shoe laces. White solid rubber sole has been applied depicting Creative Recreation label along the side.
If you are a fan of the street and you found the “Step Up” movie entertaining, watch out for the film’s 3D version that will be out on August and see how these LED Sneakers rock the dance floor.
