Air Jordan 9

Summer ’93 was a total emotional devastation for the king of court, Michael Jordan due to the murder of his father in North Carolina. And in October 6, 1993, the world was even more confounded and shocked when he announced his retirement from the NBA. At 30, His Airness was willing to let go of his fulltime career and move on by starting a new life in the baseball field.

It seemed to be a doom’s day to all Michael Jordan supporters but what happened to his line of kicks? The most popular signature brand prevailed and launched another descendant, the Air Jordan 9. Again, designer Tinker Hatfield chose the shoe with its inner bootie, speed-lacing, and sole speaking to MJ’s winning qualities for Michael is a statue in Chicago.

A perfect Black and White combination made up the whole shoe with White dominating the leather upper. A simple arrangement was employed allowing the integration of a unique lace system that permits faster lacing. The tongue comes in traditional mesh with Red embroidered AIR JORDAN label. Another overwhelming figure appeared on the rear with the stitched number “23”, and a Jumpman logo above it. The midsole and outsole were in harmony as this uncomplicated design stood out to be the ninth icon to rock the shelves despite the fact that MJ didn’t have the chance to wear it on the court.

Having mentioned that the Air Jordan 9’s soles spoke to MJ’s winning qualities, different languages were depicted. On the right shoe, the following English and foreign languages were revealed: dédié(French), dedicated fuerza(Spanish), force intenso(Italian), intense liberté(French), freedom anmutig(German), and graceful. The left shoe also disclosed the following: спорт(Russian), sport uhuru(Swahili), independence свобода(Russian), freedom athletisch(German), athletic muundaji(Swahili), and two Japanese words that mean “world” and “sport”.

Instead of moving back, Brand Jordan continued to develop different colorways of this kind and later produced other player exclusives with the corresponding player’s jersey number on the heel, including retro and sample versions.

After all, this elegant Japanese-inspired Air Jordan 9 reminds us why we admired MJ from the start.
