Having no Michael Jordan to promote the next Air Jordan model was not a total lost for the brand. Other popular NBA players like Jason Kidd, Gary Payton, Carmelo Anthony, and Ray Allen were invited to promote the most expensive signature shoe starting with its next release, the Air Jordan 19.

In 2004, the Full Flex upper was introduced and was made to the specifications of MJ himself. This dynamic material allowed the shoe to be the most flexible and lightweight Air Jordan to date. Furthermore, the Full Flex or also known as Tech Flex is a material used in the automotive industry which stretches comfortably.

The Air Jordan 19 incorporated a double stack Air sole unit called the Phylon midsole, plus full-length Zoom Air and carbon-fiber shank plate to complete the performance picture. Leather and nubuck are the main components of the shoe aside from the braided covering.

Focusing on the design, the shoe displays a Silver Jumpman logo near the heel area while the toe comes in plain patent leather. The Full Flex panel was provided with a strap around the heel for added support. It has a midsole that was constructed with simplicity and an outsole designed to have a total grip on the floor.

With the shoe’s complicated engineering, credits were awarded not only to a single individual but to a team composed of designers who at that time have the most futuristic ideas on sneaker style.
