Controversy is one of the best free marketing campaigns that a company could ever hope for. Nike got just that when the NBA banned Michael Jordan from wearing the Air Jordan 1 on court. He was fined $5,000 for every time that he wore them because of his violation of the uniform policy. Jordan continued to wear his sneakers for every game and Nike paid the $5,000 each time, which they viewed to be extremely cheap promotion.
We don’t have to tell you how the story ended for the Air Jordan brand, but that sort of controversy was exactly what they needed to help them to get that jump start in the industry.
These new Air Jordan 1’s are going to look exactly as they looked when they were first released, if they ever do release. They are still samples at this time but we can keep our fingers crossed.
