Although bearing a resemblance to the late Rap star, Dr. Mutulu Shakur, Stepfather to Tupac Shakur & father to Mopreme of the Outlawz, is up for parole on February 7, 2005.

He is currently a Political Prisoner who has been locked up for over 20 years. Shakur has been very influential to conscience Hip-Hop heads such as Dead Prez, Nas etc…….

I encourage you to send letters of support for his freedom. For all who don’t know much about him you can find out all you need to know at his website www.mutulushakur.com. It goes into detail about his life, upbringing and then his unfortunate legal woes.

Check out the website and find out more about the man that was very influencial in Tupac’s and his brother Mopreme’s life and you can also find out what the intended meaning was behind the phrase “THUG LIFE”.

The SoleCollector Event that took place NY was great. People started lining up from the night before to try and get their hands on a pair of limited Temptation AF1. After waiting a full 7 hours, I was able to get my hands on a pair of these great shoes.

Tons of people showed up to the show, from collectors such as Retrokid to movie directors such as Spike Lee. While Hot 97 DJ’s played music and waiters gave out food, people browsed through the many display cases on the floor.

Towards the end of the night, many Lebron II “Triple Double” were given out, as well as a silent auction for the extremely limited pair of “Chamber of Fear” AF1. The SoleCollector Event in NY was definitely a night to remember, but if you missed it, don’t worry because SoleCollector still has events planned in Denver and Cleveland.

Straight out the South Bronx my man Fat joe just signed a deal with New Era 59FIFTY’S head wear. Fat Joe designed his stylish cap, which premiered this thursday(Jan.27), to represent his home borough(South Bronx, NYC) and honor his two friends Big Punisher and Stephon Marbury! The Black Faux suede cap features the Terror Squad Logo,”TS”, on the front panel, and also has the number and signature of Joe’s close friend, Knicks guard Stephon Marbury. The Embroidery on the cap reads “Big Pun 4-Eva”, a tribute to one of the greatest rappers ever and Joe’s close friend, deceased rapper Big Punisher.

Rapper, The Game, also has signed a deal with New Era but doesn’t reveal the hat until Feb. 24; we will have exclusive pics ASAP.

This is just the start of a big fashion trend in the Hip-Hop industry. I, Myself, being from the South Bronx, am happy to see Joe repping the BX to the fullest. This is just the start of something much bigger. Do I see Joe having his own sneaker line with Nike? Maybe.

Just imagine that elements of all of the previous versions of the Air Jordan somehow molded together into some sort of Jordan Frankenstein conglomeration. Well it’s here…the Jordan Dub-Zero. The sole and midsole of the IV, the sides of the XIII, the tongue of the XII, etc. I have to give credit to the designers at Nike for making the idea work. Love it or Hate it, here it is. The Dub-Zero is set to drop on 6/1 for $150.

I’m not a big fan of Adidas shelltoes, but I wish I was on the ball on getting a pair of the very limited Jam Master Jay Adidas Ultrastar. On top of having a great classic look, these kicks are accented with a photo of the late great Jam Master Jay on the tongue, along with his name printed along the side of each shoe.

Production was limited to 5,000 and distributed through select sellers and at the Adidas online store. But if you’re looking for a pair, I’m afraid Adidas has long since run out. I’m sure you might be able to find a pair out there for sale, but be ready to pay a pretty premium for a pair.

By the way, profits from the sale of the Jam Master Jay Ultrastar went to benefit JMJ’s Scratch Academy. Definitely check that out.

Every year around Valentine’s day, Nike releases a Valentine’s Day Pack (aka V Day Pack). This year’s V Day Pack looks very promising. This pack is set for release on February 2, 2005. It consists of: Nike Air Force 1, Nike Air Trainer Huarache, Nike Dunk, and Nike Raquette. All of the shoes look well designed, and I am looking forward to this pack’s release. So if you don’t know what to get your girl for Valentine’s Day, hopefully this was a hint. ^_^

I was taken back when I saw the pic of these…tentative release date is 4/23. These are a must have. The XIII Low is unlike other Jordan Lows as it only cuts off about a 1/2 inch to an inch inch off the top. No hologram, it’s replaced with a chrome colored jumpman. Very sick shoes.

I got these pictures off AltSnk.com. Supposedly these are Athlete’s Foot Korea Exclusives. I wish Nike would just let us have the good stuff too…but it goes to show…people appreciate exclusive kicks a lot more in other parts of the world.
